For projects and clients that want to finish their projects without any compromise and take full advantage of vintage analogue sound we are offering mixdowns & stem mixdowns ( up to 16 tracks or 8 stereo groups ) to the 1/2 inch Studer A80 at 15/30ips. Also just a stereo_mix put on to the A80 1/2 inch can give a real upgrade to a great mix. Mastering directly form tape works like harm/magic and can create deep and musical sounding tracks/masters. How is the tech setup : 16 channels DA conversion from our DAW with a RME HDSP AES interface connected to the Apogee Symphony DA converter with 2 AES I/O modules into the 16 ch. SSL summing-mixer and from there as a stereo mix to the 1/2 inch STUDER A80. We are using RMG900 tape which is like the old AMPEX499/GP9 high output tape. the studer A80 2 track 1/2 inch is the ultimate mixdown machine ever made , we're proud to preserve this analogue machine for the future and keep it up and running for all analogue music lovers and for all musicians around the world who care and seek for great sounding audio ... Stem mastering/mixing ( you can bring your macbook/laptop & work from there ) : Send us your stems and tells us what you want, just simple & straight to tape or line up the mix and finetune the stems to an optimal mix for the tape and master from there. You can even bring your own macbook or laptop and connect it to our apogee setup and start working form there. For start we will use samplitude and protools as main DAW application. Mastering from tape : Our intention and vision is that we only will master with analogue gear from the tape to the final destination format. like digital or analogue tape to go to vinyl without any digital processing after the mix is done .. but if the project needs different we will do different .. it's just our vision and not the rules we live by ...
Online & Attended sessions : You can come down to the studio or we can setup an online working-relation, all done by the internet or you just come over and we will get our hands dirty :-) Testing before doing an album : I can understand that if you're not sure of treating your whole album like this, you need/want to hear how it works out. Just do 1 or 2 tracks and decide after the final results if you'll continue. Sorry no free test runs. planning your project: it's not our intention to run quantity over quality working like this, we will have room for 1 large project like this per month so max 10 to 12 projects in a year. smaller projects and just stem/tape printing will be more easy to schedule in .... but next to our regular mastering, were booked pretty strong all year round. Turn-over times for larger projects could run from 1 weeks to 8 weeks. This is something I don't want to rush/push. Contact me for setting up a plan/agenda for your project. Pricing & budget : Time may vary from project to project. Stem & tape mastering is based on an hourly rate which is set for € 90,00 excl 19% TAX/BTW. Time required largely depends on the quantity and quality of the stem files provided and how much work is required to get the best results. If you have a fixed budget, please discuss it with us and let us see what we can work out for you. Just for orientation/focus we will give some online working prices to get an idea on the budget involved for working with tape/stems/mixes. We will always use fresh tape. 15% discount until 1 April 2012 & excl. 19% BTW/TAX Prices include full mastering & all services excl. QC'ed masterdisks or DDP images.
